Virginia Tech Faculties at KUSOM :
Dr. Devi R. Gnyawali and Dr. Tom Hammett from Virginia State University and Polytechnic spent a week at KUSOM from 7 – 13 March 2007 helping KUSOM in identifying strategic issues facing its recently set up management consulting wing and running a workshop on Consultative Report Writing for faculties and students. The visit was a part of an arrangement between the Virginia Tech and KUSOM to set up and operate EMDC at KUSOM with support from the State Department of US Government.

Training for Yeti Airlines :
EMDC (Enterprise and Management Development Center) of KUSOM conducted a one day training and workshop on “Marketing and Selling Strategies and Skills” for the sales employees of the Yeti Airlines. The training was delivered in two batches on 11 and 12 February, 2007, covering the entire sales staff. Mr. Binod K.Shrestha, Associate Professor at KUSOM and Coordinator of EMDC, conducted the training program.

Workshop for TVET :
EMDC (Enterprise and Management Development Center) of KUSOM on 9 February 2007 organized a half-day workshop on “Marketing Management of Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) Based Enterprises.” Representatives from 25 different enterprises involved in technical education and vocational training participated in the workshop.

Workshop at KUSOM :
EMDC (Enterprise and Management Development Center) of KUSOM, on 26 January 2007 organized a half-day workshop on “Enterprise Development for Developing Organizations.” Representatives from different NGOs and INGOs participated in the workshop.

Marketing Workshop at KUSOM :
EMDC (Enterprise and Management Development Center) of KUSOM, on 19 January 2007 organized a half-day workshop on “Marketing Management for Natural Resource Based Enterprises.” Representatives from 24 different natural product based enterprises participated in the workshop.

Nirdhan
   
Management Training at KUSOM :
The Enterprise and Management Development Centre (EMDC) of KUSOM organized a five-day management training program for mid-level managers of the Nirdhan Utthan Bank from 7 – 11 January 2007 as part of its management development program for the corporate sector. The training program was organized with an objective of enhancing managerial capability of the participants and improving their management practices at the branch offices and other functional units of the Bank. 

A group of 24 branch managers of the Bank took part in the program which covered areas of program/ operation management as well as staff management of branch offices of a bank. Closing the program, Prof. Suresh Raj Sharma, Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University, gave away certificates to the participants in the closing ceremony on 11 January. Dr. Harihar Dev Pant, Chairman of the Bank, was present on the occasion.

Inauguration of EMDC :
His Excellency Ambassador of United States to Nepal James F. Moriarti and Prof. Suresh Raj Sharma, Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University, jointly inaugurated on November 8 2006 Enterprise and Management Development Center (EMDC), a business consulting wing of KUSOM, amidst a ceremony at Hotel de la Annapurna. KUSOM established the Centre with support from the State Department of US Government and in professional collaboration with the Virginia State University and Polytechnic about a year ago to institutionalize professional services of the School within the collaborative framework of university – business partnership for enterprise growth and management development of business and social enterprises in Nepal.
